A new BTTF site? Why do we need another site?
Since the demise of Gary Weaver's BTTF Parts forum a few days ago, there is now a sudden vacuum, and a loss of some essential information that was only available through that site.
Gary doesn't want the hassle of the forum anymore, and I can understand that. I actually own several forums myself (one has over 45,000 active users) and I have help to maintain them - it's difficult on your own.
There are two other sites which are taking up much of the slack for now, Videobob's comprehensive BTTF Stuff site, and the semi-official BTTF.com. Neither of these sites has all the information that had been discovered by the users on BTTF Parts, and that is a serious problem. Without that information conversion projects will be set back significantly.
So, the plan is to start from scratch and figure out all this information again and get it up on this site. This site has a forum, to discuss the projects, but as information is found it'll be added to the main pages for each prop, DeLorean Time Machine part, costume etc. Every piece of information I come across will be added, and there is no holding back.
I'll update this blog to point you to the latest updates, and I'll point out interesting finds - such as eBay auctions for rare items.
You can know that I have the staying power to see this through. There'll be no login required to read any of the information on this site, so worst case, if I suddenly disappear one day, then everything can live on in sites like archive.org. I'll also look at a download link so you can pull down the whole site and store it locally if you like.
The photo above is of a cake my gorgeous girlfriend baked for me when I first told her about my idea for this site. She's as crazy as me about getting this DeLorean project underway.
We're after the most screen-accurate DeLorean conversion that we can. There are only a couple of people in the scene that are as single-mindedly going for accuracy like we are. This site will only tell you about making and obtaining the most accurate props and parts.
